  • A proprietor stands before his sari-sari store, a small but essential neighborhood business which sells just about anything from prepared foods to snacks to thumbtacks and everything in between... Often, the customer asks: "lista di book, suma di week"("would you credit it?") This is the typical practice wherein the proprietor would grant their loyal and trusted customers a credit line for goods that the customers pay for at the end of each week. But there are times when, unfortunately, one or two customers would default on their payment, or worse, disappear without paying. So when this happens, it is called "lista sa tubig", thus the phrase: "no water ang kuwarta".
